The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) request to change the venue for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup third-round qualifying match between Nigeria and Senegal. The match, initially scheduled to take place at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, will now be held at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on February 7, 2026.

According to NFF’s Director of Competitions, Ruth David, the change of venue was necessitated by the deteriorating condition of the pitch at the Lekan Salami Stadium. The Falconets, who have been training in Ibadan, will relocate to Abeokuta to familiarize themselves with the new playing surface.

Nigeria, a two-time FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup silver medallist, qualified for the third round after defeating Rwanda 5-0 on aggregate. The winner of the Nigeria-Senegal tie will advance to the final round of African qualifiers, facing the winner of the Guinea-Bissau vs Malawi fixture for a spot at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
