Sen. Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi (Okanlomo of Ibadanland) has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across Oyo State and Nigeria at large on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, urging them to uphold the values of sacrifice, obedience, and compassion which the festival symbolizes.

In a statement released to commemorate the celebration, Senator Akanbi described Eid-el-Adha as a sacred period that reminds believers of the importance of faith, total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, and selfless service to humanity.

The Okanlomo of Ibadanland called on Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim by showing love, generosity, tolerance, and support to the less privileged, especially during the festive period. He stressed that the essence of the celebration goes beyond merriment, but also reflects the need for unity, peaceful coexistence, and care for one another.

Senator Akanbi also spoke extensively on the current economic realities facing Nigerians, expressing concern over the hardship, rising inflation, declining purchasing power, and the general economic downturn affecting the masses. He noted that many families and small business owners are struggling to survive under the harsh conditions, urging leaders at all levels to place the welfare of the people above personal interests.

He further admonished citizens, particularly the youths, not to lose hope but to remain politically conscious and responsible. According to him, the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) remains one of the strongest tools available to the people in shaping governance and correcting societal challenges. He encouraged Nigerians to register, safeguard their PVCs, and “shine their eyes” before voting, stressing that leadership choices have direct consequences on the economy and the overall wellbeing of the people.

Senator Akanbi further urged residents to continue praying for peace, stability, and economic recovery in the nation as a whole, noting that collective prayers, unity, and responsible civic participation remain essential to overcoming the country’s challenges.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the people through continuous community-centered initiatives and development programmes aimed at improving lives across the grassroots.

Senator Akanbi concluded by wishing all Muslim faithful a joyous, peaceful, and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Adha celebration, praying that Almighty Allah accepts their sacrifices and blesses their homes with happiness and abundance.
