Kwara state government has ordered the closure of schools in four local government areas as a response to escalating banditry in the region. The decision also includes a demand for the establishment of a military base within the affected zone to boost security presence and protect students and teachers.

Officials emphasized that the move is a protective measure, aimed at preventing attacks on educational institutions and ensuring the safety of school communities. Discussions are ongoing to determine the most suitable locations for the military base to restore a safe learning environment.
In addition to the closure, the government is coordinating with education authorities and security agencies to redeploy teachers and ensure minimal interruption to academic activities, while implementing contingency plans to maintain continuity of learning for affected students.
