The Dangote Refinery has announced the commencement of its free fuel distribution scheme, set to begin on Monday, September 15, 2025. The initiative will kick off in Lagos and the South-West region, followed by Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States.

According to Anthony Chiejina, spokesperson for the Dangote Group, this program aims to alleviate the financial burden on Nigerians by providing fuel at reduced prices. Effective Monday, petrol prices will be lowered to ₦841 per litre in Lagos and the South-West, and ₦851 per litre in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta States.
To support this distribution, the refinery has received over 1,000 trucks, with plans to expand the fleet as more vehicles arrive. Additionally, the company is rolling out 10,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks this year to enhance logistics and reduce costs, despite recent increases in CNG prices.
This initiative is part of Dangote’s broader efforts to improve fuel accessibility and affordability across Nigeria.
